Who We Are

Sidney and Braedon are the farmers at Wild Geese Farm

We’ve always felt a deep purpose to care for the planet. For us, farming is a way to contribute to our community while caring for the Earth.

Over the years, we’ve grown a lot of vegetables, raised many kinds of animals, and cooked so much delicious food. We learned some of the best techniques to improve the soil and care for animals as we grow food for our community.

First Generation Farmers

Braedon grew up in Tigard, Oregon, and has spent nearly his whole life in the Willamette Valley. While he was learning to farm, he made small- batch farm products like wine, beer, kombucha, cheese, sausage and kimchi on the side.

Sidney was raised in Oakland, California, where she fell in love with cows, baking, and developed a passion for a more ethical, sustainable way of life. She went on to study agricultural economics and cooperatives in college.

We Learned To Farm Responsibly

We worked on a lot of different farms, across the country and around the world. We’ve raised sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs and cows. We worked in orchards, vineyards and have grown hundreds of varieties of vegetables.

Sidney even worked with draft horses. Instead of burning fuel to till a field with a tractor, she opted for the clopping of hooves to pull a plow.

Our greatest mentors talk about farming in the image of nature. A healthy ecosystem, lush with a diversity of plants, animals, insects and micro-organisms: That’s what nature would create on it’s own, and we follow nature’s guide when we’re growing food. We strive to increase biodiversity rather than eradicate it.

Caring for the planet is our primary responsibility. If we can’t grow food without hurting the environment, we won’t.

As we farm, we will never use synthetic herbicides and pesticides that poison the land and the people who live here. We oppose the style of agriculture that makes people sick. We plan to transition Wild Geese Farm to a regenerative, no-till system of farming that captures carbon, improves soil, decreases run-off and pollution and increases biodiversity.

We promise to care for the land and our community to the best of our abilities.

Our Place In The Family Of Things

Now we’re here, farming at the beautiful Luscher Farm, in Lake Oswego! We’re so grateful to the farmers who were here before us and to our new neighbors who have been supporting this little urban farm over the last 20 years.

We’re excited to carry the momentum forward! We plan on feeding our CSA members and bringing fresh produce to local schools.

We’ll be growing year round, and odds are good that we will be out in the field year round too.
